Jordon and Mark aren’t exactly newlyweds — they were married in April 2014 — but they jumped at an opportunity to get a little romantic at their Riley County Fair portrait session this summer!

The fair was bustling and loud on Friday night, and unseasonably cool for late July. Jordan and Mark may not have been celebrating upcoming nuptials, but the celebratory atmosphere reminded the couple of these happy memories.

Both Jordan and Mark are from Chapman, Kansas, and met in the sixth grade. While it wasn’t love at first sight — they didn’t start dating until just prior to their high school graduation — they dated long-distance all throughout college. After a long period of dating, Jordan was anxious to get engaged and knew Mark would ask her soon. He still managed to surprise her, though, with an adventurous scavenger hunt throughout town. At the last stop, Mark proposed, catching Jordan completely off guard. The couple say their 2014 wedding is their favorite memory together, and a great adventure surrounded by all the people who love them.

Jordan received a bachelor’s degree in psychology with minors in business administration and early childhood education from Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas. She eventually received her master’s degree in school counseling from Wichita State University, and is now a K-12 school counselor.

Mark received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Kansas State University and recently completed his Master of Innovation Design at Wichita State University. He is a project manager in new product development for the Coleman Company in Wichita, Kansas.

Today, Mark and Jordan live in Newton, Kansas, where they enjoy motorcycle trips, snorkeling, hiking, visiting family and anything that gets them out of their daily routines and into a new journey.
